In-Home & Online music lessons designed specifically for KIDS ages 5-18.
Clear lesson plans are first seen on the Practice Subjects pages of the students DPV Workbook. These notes are then added to both the student and parent portals in mymusicstaff.com. Emails of these notes are also sent to both parties. Customized lesson plans are how we keep kids engaged, through a Montessori approach, where they get to choose what and how they learn.
Lessons are once/week. Only 9-month plans come with Drop-ins which allow for additional lesson appointments to be made between regular lessons.
The effectiveness of ‘leveling up’ is one that kids, in any activity, tend to not only enjoy, but it also incentivizes them to strive for the next level. In lessons, students work through 10 Levels of an instrument specific DPV Workbook. Levels 1-5 are all about ‘Playing and Performing’ on their instrument. Teaching them the joy of the jam. Levels 6-9 dig deeper into ‘Understanding Music’ while Level 10 helps them in ‘Writing’ their own! Each DPV Workbook contains the academia of music as well as pages for the Clear Lesson Plan, Song Coversheets for songs they are learning, and a Notes section for added reminders. Each level comes with its own special Martial Art-Style Backstage Pass. These are colored and designed to mimic the belts of martial arts, giving our kids a super fun way to exclaim “I LEVELED UP!”
This is where our Student and Parent Portals can be found. Student Portals show their weekly lesson notes, when their next lesson is, what their attendance has been, how much time they’ve practice when using the Practice Timer and much more! Parent Portal shows parents/guardians everything the students sees…plus private weekly notes on the students’ progress, what past/present/future bills look like as well as giving parents the ability to change credit cards on file and much more!
Once/quarter students and parents sit down with their instructor during their regular lesson and a prefilled evaluation document is given to all. Instructors use a scale of 1 – 5 in a dozen categories like ‘coordination’ and ‘time keeping’ as well as writing down specific notes on what the students is doing really well and where they need improvement. The conversation during these is directed at the student, not the parent, to take advantage of every learning opportunity.
Everyone needs a break, while families also need time for vacation! Vacation Days are built into most packages so students and/or families can take time off. Need more time off than your package allows? No problem…extra vacation days just mean one less lesson or you can request a video lesson that is viewable at any time via the student/parent portal!
This is why we do what we do! Live Concerts are full production concerts put on via outdoor stages or theaters in the Nashville area. Students are encouraged to join student bands when similar songs/genres are being learned. If this isn’t possible an instructor band, playing to track, playing with instructor or playing solo are given as options. Performing is never forced on our students, to prevent any severe cases of performance-anxiety.
Students get real performance experience, to an audience of their choosing, in the comfort of their home. Parents have very little to do in preparation of these. This is one of DPV’s specialties!
The ability to drop in an extra lesson between two regularly scheduled lessons. This is great for students preparing performances for school or for one of our DPV Concerts. Drop-ins are charged ad hoc at 1/4th the monthly tuition.
The ability to take lessons on more than 1 instrument. Only caveat is the same instructor must teach all interested instruments.
The entire 90 minute lesson category is designed to help families save that have 2-3 members want to learn an instrument. Moms, dads, aunts, uncles, siblings etc. Only caveat is they must live in the same household and the instructor must teach all instruments of choice.
This gives our online students the ability to feel what it’s like to perform. Students record themselves playing to a song they’ve learned in lessons. The recording is then given to our owner, who makes a full production music video out of it. This is then uploaded to YouTube with privacy, so that only those with the link can view it. At a predetermined time/day all those that were given the link can watch the video together, while having the ability to via live chat. This way our Online students get to feel a ‘performance applause’ through praises in the chat forum!
